ROBERT GEORGE EDWARD MCLAUGHLIN
It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert McLaughlin on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
Rob was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Bob and Donna McLaughlin (Mathieson) and survived by brother Ronnie, daughter Alyssa and nephew Chad, along with many cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends.
Rob was born in Winnipeg on September 20, 1960. He grew up in Elmwood and loved being at the rink and playing hockey. He was a big sports fan and was always cheering on the Denver Broncos, Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He always performed the "one ring hang ups" to let you know his team was beating yours.
He had a lust for life and always enjoyed getting together with friends and family for a "pop" or two or twelve.
He enjoyed summer golf trips and getting together with the Elmwood Sewer tour, a tradition that has been going on for over 50 years, and don’t forget the pickerel!
Rob had a deep love for music, especially classic rock and country and played drums in his younger years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or CancerCare Manitoba.
Please join us in celebrating his life and sharing some stories at the Elmwood Legion #9, 920 Nairn Avenue, Friday, March 6, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. Interment to be held at a later date.

I worked with Rob at Sears. He was a salesman in Major Appliances. Rob was witty, a great salesman and a caring man. He always had a comment or two for anything I posted on Facebook (I no longer live in Winnipeg). I had the pleasure of attending a birthday party of his at the Carlos and Murphy’s and met many of his friends, whom adored him. Rob was a stubborn man who loved football and hockey and definitely made those around him laugh with his jokes. Rob surprised me by saying farewell as I was leaving Canada for good and we were able to share stories with old coworkers about days gone by. Rob, you’ll be missed and I am thankful to have had some time on earth with you. “Just saying” Miss you Bud. - Posted by: Alana (Friends, work colleague) on: Mar 05, 2026

Words cannot express how shocked and sad we are to hear of Robbie’s passing. Our heart goes out to Ron, Alyssa, and all the McLaughlin family and his crew of faithful friends. We will miss his hearty laugh and practical jokes. We will raise a pop in his honour ! RIP Rob! - Posted by: Allyson & George Mathieson (Uncle and Aunt) on: Mar 04, 2026
